When you’re ready to take a break from lazing at the beach or floating in the lake, there’s lots to see and do in Loring-Restoule that will give you a taste for local custom and culture.
It’s not surprising that such breathtaking surroundings inspire artisans and crafts people to create and display works at studios and galleries throughout the area. Antiques and collectibles can be found at a number of shops, many offering a glimpse into the history of the region (which was established by homesteaders and the 19th century logging industry).
Dining establishments across Loring-Restoule serve up great food and great conversation, with staff who’ll happily tell you more about this neck of the Ontario woods.
Or shop for yourself at the Argyle Farmers’ Market, located on Hwy 522 at the Argyle Community Centre, Arnstein. Open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays from late June to the end of August, the market features vendors offering locally grown produce, baking, honey, jewellery, crafts, woodworking, perennials and more.
A vacation here wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Board’s Honey Farm, where you can see the bees busy making the golden nectar.
