In the Loring-Restoule area you’ll find two incredible – and totally unique – provincial parks to enjoy a camping getaway, and plenty of Crown land to explore too.
Restoule Provincial Park is perhaps less known than some of Ontario’s other camping destinations, but the scenery and setting are just as impressive. Even better is that this off-the-beaten path spot generally isn’t as crowded as some of its sister parks.
Tent, trailer and RVs are welcome at campsites along Lake Restoule. More experienced campers will enjoy walk-in and canoe-in sites on Stormy and Clear Lakes, as well as on the Restoule River.
Bring your own boat and launch at designated areas on Restoule and Stormy Lakes. And take part in the Natural Heritage Education programming that runs from July to September.

To the West: Grundy Provincial Park.
Located just off the Trans-Canada Highway, Grundy Provincial Park is renowned for great beaches with smooth rocky shores – and some of the most stunning photos of any provincial parks come from here. Great for fishing and with multiple hiking trails, this park features many inland lakes that provide endless canoeing and kayaking routes. (Grundy also has canoe and kayak rentals available.)
RV, car camping or backcountry canoe-in sites are available, and the park runs the Learn to Camp program that’s offered from Ontario Parks.

Crown Land – Yours to Discover
The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources oversees plenty of Crown land in the Loring-Restoule area, ideal for more experienced backcountry campers and hikers to explore. For information on what is considered Crown land here, check out the Ministry’s handy “Crown Land Use Policy Atlas.” (Be sure to take note of hunting seasons, as this interest group also uses Crown land.)
