Hiking in the Provincial Park is a fun activity that the entire family can enjoy! In the Loring-Restoule Region we are lucky to be close to many parks, with two located in our immediate area. Grundy Lake Provincial Park is located just off Hwy 69/400 (The Trans Canada Highway) at Highway 522 West. Grundy Park is known for its great hiking trails as well as its proximity to The Grundy Lake Supply Post, a one stop shop with Canoe/Kayak Rentals, gas, convenience store, ice cream, fresh cut fries and more!
The trails at Grundy Lake are suitable for both novice or experienced hikers, with both day trip hikes and longer back country camping, multiple day trails to explore. The very popular Gut Lake Trail travels over the rugged rock of the Precambrian Shield, by beautiful lakes and wetlands, home to a diverse population of species.
Both Grundy and Restoule Provincial Parks have a Natural Heritage Program to teach you more about the local flora and fauna of our region.
Restoule Provincial Park is located at the end of the highway, making it possible to leave the traffic behind and explore their many trails. This park features 5 trails rated from easy-moderate to difficult. The very popular 7 km Fire Tower trail, loops through mixed forest bringing you to a spectacular view of renowned Stormy Lake atop the 100m tall stormy bluffs.
Dogs are allowed leashed on the trails at both parks; certain areas are devoted to our 4 legged friends, with both Grundy and Restoule having dog friendly beach and exercise areas.
Grundy Lake and Restoule Provincial Park are available for day use or overnight camping with a purchase of a Park Pass and fees. The Parks are open seasonally- Closed in the winter months. Some of the resorts and lodges in our region keep a pass on hand for guests who would like to hike the trails for the day. So pack a picnic lunch and head out on the trails for fun invigorating hike.
